Two of a kind

TWO OF A KIND
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of the Goepp family is the intense joy they feel talking to us. They have just met us, but you can see their faces light up when we suggest we have another tasting together. Clément has an infectious grin, and Sylvain is serious. Annie will also join us at the tasting. It can take hours when the wine flows, but the day is complete when Annie cooks for us. She loves doing that, especially when her husband, Gérard, is still there to oversee the process. Together, they cooked the stars from the sky. His years of hard work in the cellar and vineyard, and his expertise in the winemaking process, are deeply appreciated.
Because of the intense loss of their father, good relationships with people who contribute to the natural beauty of life are even more critical for the Goepp family.

PROGRESSIVE
During our first visit, we were immediately struck by the Goepp family's unwavering dedication to natural winemaking. Clément and Sylvain, the young and dynamic twins, had not let the loss of their father deter them. Their proactive approach and conscious choice for a different philosophy led to extra work, but also a lot of satisfaction. The vineyards, never chemically treated, were a perfect fit for their decision to make natural wine. They believe in wines with little intervention, convinced that they simply taste better. This unique philosophy, combined with their dedication, sets them apart in the industry. Their belief in wines with little intervention, convinced that they simply taste better, is a philosophy that intrigues and sets them apart in the industry. However, the grapes in the vineyard must be of very high quality to make wines without sulphur. Strict methods and a meticulous selection during the harvest are a first requirement. Great care and precision are also essential in the cellar. But no winemaker is always brilliant. There are less good years, less good yeasts, less good barrels or a wrong bottling. But the highlights are crazy. And those highlights are often there.

KUGELHOPF
You feel driven and positive energy whenever you come in there waving. The sun shone, the birds sang, and we saw a love-struck Clément with an enchanting Aurore. While our feet were slowly freezing, Sylvain let us taste the promising vintage 2021. When everything seemed too cold, Annie came with homemade Kugelhopf and a sparkling Pet Nat, and we immediately arranged the next meeting in August.

RESTAURANT DE LIBRIJE***
Take it from me that we will hear a lot from this loving family and their delicious wines. It is not without reason that Patrick Bouju, Pierre Andrey, and Christian Binner, to name but a few, like to buy their grapes here. The three-star restaurant de Librije*** serves the Pet Nat La Fine Bulle with a beautiful dish of egg yolk, caviar, crème fraîche, chives, and marigold because the flavours of hay and camomile and the tight bubbles fit seamlessly in an ultimate match. This recognition in the industry should give you confidence in the quality of their wines.
