Atypical, hip hop and soul

CHANEL
As Chanel's fashion photographer, Alexandre Jouveaux was formerly a Beaux-Arts student and a regular in the electric atmosphere of overheated Parisian photo studios. Ten years ago, he realized he would rather make wine than take photos and followed his passion. He left for Uchizy, a town in the famous Mâconnais wine region. With a perfect taste for wine and gastronomy and bursting with self-confidence, he started at the beginning. First, he obtained all the necessary diplomas and then carefully bought a piece of land he could not live on. He began teaching, but today, Alexandre is a full-time winemaker, a testament to the power of dedication and passion in pursuing one's dreams!

COMMON THREAD
The wines, all Vin de France, are like tiny undiscovered treasures. Each bottle is a unique and intriguing mystery. There is a common thread running through his wines. They have an incredible freshness that comes straight from the soil, with a sharp, high acidity in the finish. Freshly squeezed apple juice, grapes, lime, citrus, rose scent, warm baked bread, fermenting notes, and nuances of chalk and limestone remind me of organic champagne. These are different from your typical wines. They keep your taste sensors alert and fresh. They are wonderfully imperfect, and most classic tasters ignore them because they find the wines too wild, demanding, unmanageable, strange and even too volatile in their acidity. It is precisely the most energetic wines that make my heart beat faster. Atypical, hip-hop and soul! Not to be compared with the white Burgundies that I do not like and have never wanted to drink.

MASTERPIECE
Too often disappointed by an excess of oak, negative flavours and coatings and too technical and monotonous profiles, I went looking and ended up with the wonderfully incorrect wines of Alexandre Jouveaux. It is erroneous because the particles of lime and finely ground rock swirl around in the bottle. That is incorrect because the Chardonnay aroma resembles sherry and brandy, and sometimes, but much more slenderly, it is Vin Jaune! It's wrong because the acidity is almost too high. Perfect because the wines benefit enormously from decanting hours in advance, which makes way for the veil of yeast to make way for explosive taste sensations of fruits and flowers filled with tons of soil energy. It is an insane but pure masterpiece! Today, the wines of Alexandre Jouveaux are distributed among small maniacal wine importers and praised worldwide.

DOMAINE DES FAUVETTES

POEM
A few years ago, Maryse Chatelin, Alexandre's wife, planted old pinot noir vines on a unique plot with pink-coloured lime. This rare and distinctive soil type, known for its high iron content, imparts unique characteristics to the grapes. Due to its iron-rich composition, the soil's pink hue adds a distinct minerality to the wine. In 2015, the first grapes were picked with great success.

This magnificent pinot noir de l'Aube à l'Aube is a poem. What a delicate character! What an insane bitterness of red cherries and other juicy red fruit. In the meantime, there is also a little Chardonnay of excellent quality under the name l'embellie. It is very pure and complex with storage potential.

We have been regulars there for more than 15 years and have come to love these respectful people.
